My name is Eric and I created this blog for the simple reason that I love to find hidden gems that go under the radar. So you can get an idea of my tastes, my favorite all-time movies include (among many others) Aliens (plural), Braveheart, The Shawshank Redemption, Field of Dreams, Misery, A Simple Plan, The Untouchables, Die Hard, and Superman: The Movie.

I have a massive list of over 250 underrated, under-appreciated, and/or overlooked movies, and I am always on the lookout for more. I will occasionally update this blog with a new selection. Each entry has links to the Internet Movie Database, a top critic’s review of the movie, Netflix, a link to the trailer, and a link to purchase and/or watch the movie instantly on Amazon. I would earn a small commission if you buy on Amazon after clicking my link, so consider making a purchase if you enjoy this blog!

It’s way too easy to create an “underrated movie list” of nothing but art-house, experimental independent movies, so what qualifies as “underrated” or “overlooked” for me, at least for this list, is a movie that a large audience can enjoy. I do include some independent movies that are quirky, but I won’t put something on this list that is quirky just for quirkiness’ sake. My favorite “finds” are mainstream-type movies that just went unnoticed, for whatever reason.

Could you check out “This Must Be The Place” with Sean Penn and Frances McDormand? I’d love to get your thoughts on this movie!

    • Hi Monique,

I’ve actually seen that title lurking around when I log into Netflix. I may try to check it out sometime, but I have to say that I literally have almost 700 movies in my queue, and I have to keep a separate list because Netflix only allows for 500 DVDs in the queue.

That’s cool — I just wanted to see what you thought of the ending, and Sean Penn’s relationship with Mary (Bono’s daughter) and Mary’s mom. I was a bit perplexed so wanted to read your thoughts 🙂

  4. I can see from my page views today (8/16/13) that someone “out there” is DEVOURING my blog. That’s just what I like to see! 🙂
