Underrated Movie #298 ~ Deep Blue Sea

Deep Blue Sea
Two scientists conduct research on sharks, hoping to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. When they decide to take a dangerous shortcut, they end up breeding larger sharks with larger brains — and near-human intelligence. (Netflix) Yes, the plot might be pretty dumb, but this action thriller accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do, which is to get to the “gigantic sharks chasing people” as soon as possible. If you like “killer shark” movies, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better one than this. My Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars.

(Netflix) An absolutely awesome movie for the first one-hour-fifteen minutes, but it takes a left-turn during the last half-hour or so which takes it down a notch. But still, it’s good enough to make this underrated movie list. My Rating: 4.25 out of 5 Stars. Internet Movie Database

(Netflix) From the director of “Buried.” Most reviewers are right: the first 2/3 of the movie are top-notch, but it loses a little steam in the last-third. But still it hooked me enough to give it a 4 out of 5. Internet Movie Database
