Underrated Movie #358 ~ Widows’ Peak

Christine
When attractive British widow Edwina (Natasha Richardson) moves to a quiet Irish community, the local ladies are immediately suspicious of the sultry outsider, so much so that they spearhead an elaborate investigation to prove she’s up to no good. But that doesn’t stop Edwina from charming Mrs. Counihan’s (Joan Plowright) son, Godfrey (Adrian Dunbar), and fighting with Miss O’Hare (Mia Farrow). Jim Broadbent co-stars in this comedic mystery. Underrated Movie #349 ~ The Interview

The Interview
Ah, Yes… This is exactly what I’m on the lookout for. The Interview is an Australian police drama in which unemployed, poverty-stricken Eddie Rodney Fleming (Hugo Weaving), after losing his wife and home, is dragged from his apartment by police and subjected to a brutal interrogation. Eventually, it becomes terrifyingly apparent to Eddie that the police consider him a suspect for more than just a stolen car. Detective Sgt. John Steele (Tony Martin) and his assistant, Detective Sgt. Constable Wayne Prior (Aaron Jeffrey), make audiotapes of their efforts to get Fleming to confess. My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars.

Underrated Movie #341 ~ The Invitation

The Invitation
A man accepts an invitation to a dinner party hosted by his ex-wife, an unsettling get-together that reopens old wounds and creates new tensions. And what are the hosts’ real motives? (Netflix) This is pretty much a bulls-eye. Not 100% perfect, but this kind of high quality thriller doesn’t come around very often. This psychological thriller will make you squirm. Available for instant viewing on Netflix as of right now. I recommend not watching the trailer so that nothing is revealed before you watch. And “No,” that is not Tom Hardy, it’s Logan Marshall-Green, Hardy’s doppelganger. My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars.

Underrated Movie #339 ~ It Follows

Soaked in Bleach
After young Jay engages in what she thinks is a casual romantic encounter, her life takes a mysterious and sinister turn as she suspects that somebody or something is tracking her — a malignant presence able to take any form it chooses. (Netflix) I’m not a huge fan of horror movies, especially “supernatural” ones, but this movie had some seriously freaky moments. It might be a stretch to call it “underrated” because it’s got a serious cult following. Check it out. My Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars.
